Worked example
You have 40 holiday photos copied from an iPhone to a Windows laptop, and they all end in .HEIC. Select them all, choose JPG at 90% and click Convert. Each one appears as a JPG you can open anywhere; click Download all to save them together.
For a single photo needed by an upload form that only accepts JPG, the same steps take a few seconds.
When people use it
- Opening iPhone photos on a Windows PC or Android phone
- Uploading photos to forms and websites that only accept JPG
- Sending photos to people who cannot open HEIC
- Printing at kiosks and online print shops
- Editing in older photo software
Good to know
Most browsers need to download a HEIC decoder (about 3 MB) the first time, which can be slow on mobile data. Very large batches use a lot of memory, so convert 50 or so at a time on a phone. Live Photo motion and depth data are not kept, only the still image. Location and camera data are not copied into the JPG.
HEIC to JPG Converter, frequently asked questions
How do I convert HEIC to JPG for free?
Add your HEIC files above, choose JPG and click Convert. Each photo is converted in your browser and ready to download straight away.
Why are my iPhone photos HEIC?
iPhones save photos as HEIC (High Efficiency Image) by default because the files are about half the size of JPGs at similar quality. Many Windows PCs, websites and older apps cannot open them.
Is it safe to convert personal photos here?
Yes. The photos are converted on your own device and are never sent to PixOtter or anyone else.
Can I convert HEIC on Windows without installing anything?
Yes. This tool runs in Chrome, Edge or Firefox on Windows, with nothing to install.
Does it keep the photo date and location?
No. The JPG is created fresh without the original metadata, which also stops it revealing where the photo was taken.
